In November 2017, EVC Scott Waugh formed a Virtual Reality Institute Task Force. Their report, recommending a UCLA XR Institute, was published on February 8th, 2019.
On April 12, 2019, faculty interested in XR met and determined the first steps in support of the report’s recommendations (link here to the collaborative meeting notes and meeting summary). These were to create a website serving as a connective platform for the UCLA XR community and to organize a series of Open House tours of currently active labs across campus that are engaging in XR research and pedagogy.
Both the XR Initiative website and Open House events will enable those interested in XR to connect and explore possibilities for collaborative research and projects. Please see the schedule of the Open House events and come visit as many as you can!
